Malta Book Festival

The 2021 Malta Book Festival is being organised by the National Book Council and will take place between 3-7 November at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali.

The programme of the 2021 Malta Book Festival contains more than 70 events including book launches and presentations, meetings with local and international guest authors, seminars, panel discussions, film screenings and events dedicated to students, some of which will be also streaming online.

While visits to Bookshop retail area will not be subject to pre-registration or vaccination requirements, admittance to all Festival events shall be exclusively on presentation of a valid vaccination certificate. Children events are an exception: while subject to pre-registration, they are not subject to vaccination or PCR test requirements.

The German-Maltese Circle is collaborating with the Department of German at the University of Malta towards the setting up of a stand with German language text books and literature, easy readers for children and adults, grammar books and books representing the German contemporary cultural scene and topics at the Malta Book Festival 2021.

Permanent and temporary residents in Malta of German or Maltese nationality, not below the age of 18 years of age are eligible for membership to the German-Maltese Circle. Bona fide students between the ages of 14 and 18 are accepted as Junior Members.

Section of the Dorothea von Wendland Library

The Library at the German-Maltese Circle is named after Dorothea von Wendland, the wife of a former German Ambassador, who in the early 1970’s was instrumental in the setting up of a lending and reference library in the former premises of the Circle in Floriana.
