The German-Maltese Circle – A Goethe Institut Examination Centre.

The German-Maltese Circle Goethe-Institut Prūfungszentrum, and examination centre that operates under licence from the Goethe Institut.

Examinations that are prepared and approved by the Goethe Institut are offered by the German-Maltese Circle.

The German-Maltese Circle offers the full range of German language courses that prepare students to sit for the relevant examinations.

Where are courses held?

German languages courses will be held once a week, ONLINE on an appropriate platform such as ZOOM or Microsoft Teams.

When will the courses run?

German language courses for adults will commence in October 2023 and run till May 2024.

What about holidays?

The course program may be suspended during the Christmas and Easter periods as well as on public holidays.
Students shall be informed by their respective tutor of such instances.

How may one enrol to a language course at the German-Maltese Circle?

Enrolment to one of the German languages courses is done through the online form on our website.

The choice of the appropriate course to be taken is the sole responsibility of the applicant. Guidance may be provided by our Front Office, but the final responsibility for the final choice will remain that of the applicant.

Enrolment for any class will close once the maximum number of students in that class is reached. Bookings cannot be accepted by telephone or email. The German-Maltese Circle reserves the right to cancel any course if it is under-subscribed.

Schoolchildren and persons under 16 years of age cannot be registered for the courses for adults.

What about payment for the course chosen ?

Payment for the course chosen by the applicant shall be made by Direct Bank Transfer to the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) indicated in the on-line application form. This is the primary and most preferred method of payment.

In exceptional circumstances the German-Maltese Circle may accept payment by Cheque or in cash.

APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY BE OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED ONCE PAYMENT FOR THE COURSE IS RECEIVED BY THE GERMAN-MALTESE CIRCLE.
FEES PAID WILL NOT BE REFUNDED FOR WHATEVER REASON ONCE THE COURSES COMMENCE.
FEES (IN PART OR IN WHOLE) CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED TO COURSES STARTING IN ANOTHER ACADEMIC YEAR.

Membership subscription 2024.

The membership fee is included in the course fee. Membership to the German-Maltese Circle is obligatory for all applicants. Membership entitles applicants to the free use of the Library facilities and to the free access to most of the Circle’s activities.

Examinations & Certificates.

At the end of each course, applicants will be able to sit for an examination consisting of a written and of an oral session. Students will have to apply and pay for the examinations separately, The call for applications for examinations will be made on the Website of the German-Maltese Circle at the appropriate time and students will be advised by their teachers when applications for examination will be received by the German-Maltese Circle.

A Goethe Institut certificate will be issued to candidates who successfully pass their examinations, while other candidates will be issued with a certificate of participation in the examination.

In both cases the certificates will indicate the marks obtained by the candidate in the different sections making up the examination,

Goethe Institute examinations are well known throughout the world and the associated certificates are accepted as a qualification by employers and further education institutions in many countries.

Membership

Permanent and temporary residents in Malta of German or Maltese nationality, not below the age of 18 years of age are eligible for membership to the German-Maltese Circle. Bona fide students between the ages of 14 and 18 are accepted as Junior Members.

The Library at the German-Maltese Circle is named after Dorothea von Wendland, the wife of a former German Ambassador, who in the early 1970’s was instrumental in the setting up of a lending and reference library in the former premises of the Circle in Floriana.
