German Language Courses at CEFR Levels B1

Course B1 – leading to the internationally recognised Goethe Institut “Zertifikat B1”:

Aim: Students with a CEFR A2 level in German (Goethe Zertifikat A2 or SEC O Level, including Sixth Form First Year students) can apply for this course. Candidates will be trained in letter writing, listening and reading comprehensions, multiple choice exercises and conversation

Structure: 30 lessons of 150 minutes each between October 2023 and May 2024
Day and time of lessons: Lessons available on Thursdays at 5.30pm
First Lesson: Thursday, 5th October 2023 at 5.30pm

Course fee including membership: €362.00 (not refundable once course starts)
Course fee does not include textbooks and examination fee.

Outcome: After completing this course, students would be able to understand the main points in a conversation about familiar topics like work, school, free time, provided other speakers use clear standard language. Students would be able to manage most situations that can be encountered when travelling in German speaking countries, and will be able to speak coherently about familiar topics and areas of interest using simple constructions.

Membership

Permanent and temporary residents in Malta of German or Maltese nationality, not below the age of 18 years of age are eligible for membership to the German-Maltese Circle. Bona fide students between the ages of 14 and 18 are accepted as Junior Members.

The Library at the German-Maltese Circle is named after Dorothea von Wendland, the wife of a former German Ambassador, who in the early 1970’s was instrumental in the setting up of a lending and reference library in the former premises of the Circle in Floriana.
