The ensemble Sweet Birds was founded in 2013 and is composed of Tatyana Ruhland – Flute, principal flutist with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR), Katharina Ruckgaber – Soprano, a member of the International Opera Studio at the Frankfurt Opera and Christian Schmitt – Piano, principal organist of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. The trio formation has made a name for itself as a specialist for special program compilations and has among other engagements musically inaugurated the 200th session of the Executive Council of UNESCO in Paris in 2016.
The Trio which is being brought over to Malta by the German-Maltese Circle, will give a concert during the 2017 Bir Miftuh International Festival, a chamber music festival in the medieval chapel of Santa Maria ta’ Bir Miftuh. The festival, organized by Din l’Art Helwa has the purpose of promoting the common European cultural heritage.
