Franco-German Cultural Project: 40-Jahre Elysée-Vertrag
Half-Day Seminar on “Local Councils and Twinning” with the participation of Bernd Schiffarth (Mayor of Adenau) and Jacques Douadi (Mayor of Sillery) organised by the German-Maltese Circle and the Alliance Française de Malte with the assistance of the Local Council of Mellieha at the Pergola Club Hotel

15th October
Opening of an Exhibition of collagraphies by Cronjé Lemmer & Erhardt Grobbelaar entitled ”A Glimpse of Africa” co-ordinated by Ms Ingrid Kidder. The opening ceremony led by Mr Norman Mifsud, Honorary Consul for South Africa in Malta was preceeded by Dr Joseph Paul Cassar who delivered a short appreciation of the exhibits while Renzo Spiteri gave a performance on African drums.

Concert by the Dinslakener Bach-Chor e.V. conducted by Klaus Danzeglocke at St Mary’s Church in Birkirkara

28th October
Concert by the Dinslakener Bach-Chor e.V. at Our Lady of Victory Parish Church in Naxxar.

3rd November
Talk by German Member of Parliament Ing. Dieter Grasedieck, Vice President of the Parliamentary Group for Air and Space Affairs in the Bundestag on “The Role of the European Union in Air & Space Affairs – The Potential of European Satellite Communications”

4th November
The Alliance Française de Malte and the German-Maltese Circle presented 3 Silent Films (Großstadtzigeuner. Propos de Nice and Paris qui dort) accompanied by the ensemble composed of: Silvio Zammit (flute), Tatyana Chircop (Violin), Lino Cremona (Double Bass), Andrew Micallef (Accordeon) and Ramona Zammit (Pianoforte). Composer & Director, Günter A. Buchwald was invited over from Germany. The event took place at The Embassy Cinema in Valletta.

Opening of “SECOND FACE” an Exhibition of Exclusive & Creative Photographs + Ceramics presented by Gudrun Kirchmann and Hans-Joachim Thalau

Seminar for teachers of German on the subject “redaktion D” – a new multimedia German language distance learning project coordinated by Goethe Institut Inter Nationes and Deutsche Welle led by Helen Schmitz.

Membership

Permanent and temporary residents in Malta of German or Maltese nationality, not below the age of 18 years of age are eligible for membership to the German-Maltese Circle. Bona fide students between the ages of 14 and 18 are accepted as Junior Members.

Dance Performance "Open Waters"

The German-Maltese Circle organises various activities such as exhibitions, film shows, cultural tours, forums, lectures, seminars, concerts, choral performances by visiting German choirs, chanson evenings, social and sports events and in fact, anything which helps to make especially the Maltese public more conscious of German culture and the German way of life.

Section of the Dorothea von Wendland Library

The Library at the German-Maltese Circle is named after Dorothea von Wendland, the wife of a former German Ambassador, who in the early 1970’s was instrumental in the setting up of a lending and reference library in the former premises of the Circle in Floriana.
