FIT in Deutsch & ZDj -  European Certificates for Schoolchildren

“Fit in Deutsch” is a European Certificate for students learning German which is now available in Malta with the German-Maltese Circle, the only Goethe Institute licensed examination centre in Malta.

"Fit in Deutsch 1" and "Fit in Deutsch 2" are two new international examinations for young learners of German aged 10 -15 years who have reached the level of A1 or A2 of the Common European Framework of Languages.   “Fit in Deutsch 1“ is normally taken by students who have covered about 110 to 130 lessons of 45 minutes – in our schools this would mean at the end of Form 2.  “Fit in Deutsch 2” would normally be taken at the end of Form 4.

The examination content is relevant to intercultural language teaching and focuses on themes of interest to young people. There are both playful and creative elements in the speaking part and special emphasis is placed on the ability to communication. Fit in Deutsch measures not only the student’s current level of knowledge, but also acts as motivation to continue learning.

Fit in Deutsch is set by the Goethe-Institute, the leading organisation in the world for the promotion of the German language. The Institute is involved in the development of examinations based on strict standards which lead to internationally recognised certificates.

Another well known Goethe-Institute examination for young learners is the "Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche" (CEFR Level B1), to which students from Form 5 or Year 1 at the Junior College can sit for.

Since the inception of the Common European Framework of Languages a few years ago, all Goethe-Institute examinations correspond to the new international standard. This makes possible the description, assessment and certification of language skills across a broad scale ranging from elementary to highly advanced.

The examinations Fit in Deutsch and Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche have already been introduced into various European countries and have met with significant and continuing success.

Registration for these examinations closes on the 30th March 2012.

All certificates/diplomas issued by the Goethe Institute are recognised by the Malta Qualifications Council.
