Malta Book Festival

The German-Maltese Circle is collaborating with the Department of German at the University of Malta towards the setting up of a stand with German language text books and literature, easy readers for children and adults, grammar books  and books representing the German contemporary cultural scene and topics at the Malta Book Festival 2019.

The Malta Book Festival is a annual event which attracts a wide audience – not only adults, but also schoolchildren who can visit the Festival in the mornings with their teachers and participate in the various activities organised for them. The aim of the Festival is cultural and educational. Promoting foreign languages in this context is one of the main aims of the organisers.

The primary aim of the German-Maltese Circle and of the Department of German is to ensure a German language presence in the Malta Book Festival, in order to reflect the importance of German in Malta and in the EU, and in order to give the importance of learning German as a foreign language further visibility, as well as being able to give an insight into the rich variety of book publications in the German language book market and to promote awareness of German culture.

During the Festival, the German Stand will not only be promoting books in the German language, but there will also be competitions with prizes for schoolchildren and for adult visitors and events introducing aspects of German culture in relation to Malta.
