The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler and his wife, Mrs Eva-Luise Köhler came to Malta on an official two-day State Visit. On the first day of their short stay, that is on Friday, the 16th November 2007, President Köhler and his wife paid an official visit to Messina Palace, the premises of the German-Maltese Circle in Valletta. The distinguished guests were welcomed by Frau Ingrid Kidder and by Mr Victor Sammut, President and Secretary-General of the German-Maltese Circle. His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Köhler together with the rest of his delegation was then led to the Main Hall of Messina Palace where he was welcomed by about 150 guests – mostly German Nationals living in Malta. Short speeches were exchanged between the Circle’s President, Mrs Kidder and the Federal President, followed by the presentation of a solid silver plate bearing the logo of the Circle and an inscription to commemorate this visit. Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler and his wife then informally mixed with the guests.
