Overview
The Library at the German-Maltese Circle is named after Dorothea
von Wendland, the wife of a former German Ambassador, who in the
early 1970's was instrumental in the setting up of a lending and
reference library in the former premises of the Circle in Floriana.

The Library is open on weekdays all year round from 9.00a.m. till
12.30p.m. and from 4.30p.m. till 8.30p.m.

Contents
The Library has
almost 6,500 books on its shelves. These are grouped under in sections such as Music & Art, History & General Knowledge, Biographies, Poetry, Sport, Cities & Landeskunde, Melitensia, Novels & Prose, Easy Readers, Literature, Religion, Hobbies, Health, Political, General Reference and Didactic. All books except the ones grouped under reference can be borrowed for a specified period of time by members of the German-Maltese Circle and by teachers of German. Besides, the Library has available
about 2,000 titles in the audio-visual section.

Translations: Requests for translations from English to German and vice-versa are accepted.
Photocopying: Photocopying (in monochrome) can be made against a small per-sheet charge and subject to
copyright restrictions.
Textbooks: Textbooks recommended for use in the German language courses organised by the German-Maltese Circle are on sale from the Library.
Posters: A variety of posters in all sizes are available free of charge upon request. The themes are Germany, its Länder, its culture, its people, its institutions, its art, etc.
Internet: Free WiFi service is available for members.
Audio-visual: Equipment is on site for the viewing of
DVD/videos and for listening to audio cassettes and CD's.
Archives
Another section of the Library is the Archive which houses about
900 volumes mostly written in the old Gothic style along with some other old German books. Use of this section is limited to specialised requests. Another section within the Archive is the 16-mm film library which contains a number of documentaries and feature films on reel.
